The aim of the paper is to demonstrate how Polish routine formulae can be rendered into German. The basis for the analysis consists of selected Polish-German dictionaries. The focus of attention is on the use of glosses as lexicographic components which should facilitate the understanding and the correct use of routine formulae. Possible classifications of glosses are also discussed. It shall also be illustrated with some examples which glosses could be amended or completed. The paper ends with lexicographic and language-teaching related closing remarks.
