Summary

The purpose of this article is to analyze Covid masks as new pandemic cultural texts. The research material consists of the artifacts, which, on the one hand, being a specific sign of the times, have themselves become museum items still exhibited today in the world’s renowned museums – physically and/or in the form of virtual exhibitions; while on the other hand, they often used remixed works of art as the main motif appearing on the mask. These images served as one of the strategies to soothe the difficult pandemic reality by using the therapeutic role of art. The context, which provides the background for the issues discussed, is an analysis of the digital incentives of museums that have been forced by long-lasting lockdowns to introduce new methods of attracting viewers.
