In contemporary Polish, there are phraseological compounds and winged words created under the influence of comedies directed by J. Machulski, as well as modifications of these fixed word combinations. The focus of the analysis in this article is on the word connections: ktoś widzi ciemność a/ciemność widzi; Kobieta mnie bije; Kopernik była kobietą; ktoś kupi sobie za to waciki, coś starcza komuś na waciki; ucho od śledzia. Among the innovations are replacing modifications (e.g., ktoś widzi jawność) and adding modifications (e.g., ktoś ciemność widzi nad liniowym). Fixed verbal connections created under the influence of J. Machulski’s comedies and their modifications primarily appear in the headlines of press articles, where they usually serve phatic, ludic, and informative functions.
