Media coverage of deaths is a common news phenomenon. Many homepages of news websites consistently feature links to articles about someone's death, which adds a sensationalist dimension to the media content. The selection of information about deaths and the ways in which it is reported often take on the character of disasters, spectacular accidents, natural disasters, acts of violence, and major tragedies. News articles, especially their headlines, are emotionally charged, thus affecting the emotional sphere of the recipients. This article defines and classifies the emotional nominations related to death present in Polish informational-media discourse.
