Summary

In my text I would like to look at activites of the two selected libraries in Częstochowa – Biblioteka Główna Uniwersytetu Humanistyczno-Przyrodniczego im. Jana Długosza and Biblioteka Publiczna im. Władysława Biegańskiego. Both promote reading among the local community, but also they organize many different cultural events, like: art shows, meetings with authors, lectures and plays for children. Today, the library serves as not only the rental of books, but is also a promoter and animator of various cultural initiatives targeted at people of different ages and with different interests. Therefore, those libraries are important cultural institutions in Czestochowa.
