Summary

Zdzisław Antolski – a poet, columnist and prose writer of Kielce – is included by critics among the most outstanding artists of regional literature. In his works, this man of letters, also called a “eulogist of Ponidzie”, refers repeatedly to the role of libraries in social life and their influence on the development of the Author’s writing skills. The purpose of the article is determined by an analysis of selected works of Zdzisław Antolski (of the area of both prose and poetry) that present the impact of libraries (both rural and urban) on the intellectual development of the Poet. Conclusions drawn during the analysis are supported with quotations from the Author’s statements, in which he explains the influence of reading on the development of his creative path.
