Summary

The author of the article present selected aspects of political communication in the light of texts from official and independent press of 1978‒1980. The analyzes is focused on the image of the enemy – the Other in the ideological aspect. In the official press there was a return to emotional rhetoric which was negative and focused around the „enemy stereotype” shaped on the ground of the „foreign” stereotype. In the independent press, however, the linguistic exponents of the rational, open narrative and pragmatic concept of the political opponent were noticeable.
