The article is a historical-linguistic analysis of the selected the names of sex organs occurring in the Polish language. Relying on etymology and old meanings of words, the author presents the origins and changes of meanings of words such as prącie, kutas, srom or cipa. The analysis shows that the phenomenon of language taboo has a huge impact on the Polish lexicon associated with the names of the male and female sex organs.
