Cultural changes in language result in, among other things, the spreading of vulgarisms in official and unofficial communication. Yet it may be noticed that the growth of frequency of their application, the users are not always able to differentiate vulgarisms and swear words. The article presents the range of these concepts taking into account the changing reality, among other phenomena, de-vulgarization. The current condition of social acceptance towards the phenomenon of vulgarization in the Polish language will also be discussed.
