Numbers are substantial part of human practice in various fields and influence significantly the phraseology of many languages. In the paper phraseological units with numeral components are analyzed in a cross-linguistic perspective, with a special focus on 30 units with cardinal, ordinal and fractional numbers in Polish, German, English and Spanish regarding their formal congruence and semantic equivalence. Four kinds of equivalence and congruence relations are discussed and exemplified. The results of the investigation reveal – despite of interlingual differences – some semantic and functional universals with regard to phrases containing numeral components.
