Summary

The subject at hand are poems from Grzegorz Kwiatkowski’s latest collection entitled Zagadka (Kolobrzeg 2023). The main theme of these 22 texts is death, and the protagonists in most of the texts are children. Only one poem, entitled Heinrich Gross, clearly indicates the theme, which is repeated in all previous collections – the Holocaust. The poems in the latest volume complement the previous poetic realizations. This economical collection with surgical precision „explains” where evil comes from. Its sources are seen by the poet in the lack of bonds that shape man from an early age.
