Summary

The article attempts to seek an answer to the question about the meaning of suffering in the life of an incurably ill person. Katarzyna Rosicka-Jaczyńska’s novel Ołówek has cognitive value as it illustrates the situation of patients with atrophic lateral sclerosis, their possibilities and limitations. The record of the stages of the disease of the author of the novel and at the same time her heroine allows you to ask questions about the living conditions and quality of care of people affected by ALS.
