Summary

Baba Yaga, one of the most recognizable figures in East Slavic folklore, has experienced a strong revival in Polish and Slovakian fantasy literature since the 21st century. In contrast to her traditional image the range of skills has been expanded. The authors tend either to humanize or demonize her, which leads to presenting her as a good and tame or evil and wild character. This article is focused on the creation of literary figures, inspired by the character of a given demoness in selected works of fantasy literature.
