Summary

In his prose, Kazimierz Orłoś show people’s life, everyday good and evil, brutality and nobility. The article is devoted to the women and men’s images and political and social conditionings of their behaviour in three short stories: Prosty rachunek, Pani Maria oraz Bez ciebie nie mogę żyć. Every heroine remains in special dependence on her husband or lover – and outwardly only there are good dependences. Prosty rachunek it’s description of mechanisms, which lead to gain and control victim in hard communist regime. The title Maria flounders helplessly between her arguments and love for husband, a communist major. Barbara from Bez ciebie nie mogę żyć is a victim of home violence. Every heroines, despite awareness of the evil as men’s domain, in their final “reconnaissance” can’t break free of this destructive influence. In his three short stories, Orłoś uncovers therefore moral dilemmas hidden in outwardly values: love, humility and concern for our fellow man.
