Seeking inspiration for creating the best possible translation of Vogon’s poem from D. Adams’s novel The Hitch-hiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, being a pastiche of pure-nonsense poetry, the article briefly analyses Jabberwocky by L. Caroll and its translation – Dziaberliada, by S. Barańczak, as well as Słopiewnie and Złowypnie by J, Tuwim. After comparing the two official translations of Adams’s poem, by A. Banaszak i P. Wieczorek and after semantic analysis of identifiable parts of the neologisms in the source language, the article ends with an attempt to perform own translation of the poem. This text also presents different approaches that translators have for their work and shows that the translated text will never be seen as a finished product and several parallel translations can be recognized by readers, while the ideal translation will always remain a wishful matter.
