Summary

The paper constitutes the attempt of the answer to a question, whether taken (recently quite often) in the Polish stage song the subject matter of matters of ultimate – transitoriness, the futility of life, the death – is exposing it’s content to be kitsch. In current researches of the song production are clashing various and often contradictory concepts of the function, but first of all aspiration of the song text. It is believed that song – in it’s primary function – doesn’t aspire to take the role of the philosophical statement or to be carrier of universal truths. Contemporary “songs about the end” they are giving rise to doubts: does the authors role is to be a sage. Isn’t generalisation concerning existential matters which the author is making in the text, exposing song to the kitsch? Analysis of the popular songs treating about this subject (Boso by Zakopower, Nic nie może przecież wiecznie trwać by Anna Jantar, Wszystko ma swój czas by Perfect, Vanitas performed by group Hey) – in their text layer, but also in its musical layer indicates places where the kitsch can be coming to existence.
