Summary

The main purpose of the article is an attempt of deep interpretation of short story Trupia głowa na biesiadzie by Józef Bogdan Dziekoński. The first dimension of interpretation is a psychoanalytic one – the occurences are depicted as a return of that which is suppressed in consciousness of the hero. Author uses the perspective of Freudian Uncanny. The second dimension of the interpretation is associated with gnosis. The plot is presented as a realisation of a gnostic travel in an effort to achieve wisedom (also the moral one), and therefore – a salvation. The analysis proves, that it is possible, that Dziekoński had known gnosis earlier, than it is considered that he took the secret lore up.
