Summary

The purpose of this piece is an attempt to interpret work depicting Tadeusz Śliwiak›s birthplace, that is included in volume “Lwów – nawyk serca i inne wiersze” (1990). Sixteen years spent by the author of “Chityna we Lwowie” left significant mark on author’s later life. On the one hand, city remained in his memory to be an arcadia of childhood and the early years of youth, but on the other hand it was a place of dramatic events connected with the war. The poet, longing for his “little homeland” (the place-wound; place that hurts), simultaneously knows that none of the possible returns, neither the imaginative nor the physical one, will ever allow him to experience and view Lviv as once in his childhood.
