Summary

In this article, we would like to compare two instruments dedicated to comment and illustrate the reality: written slogans and Internet memes in the context of “Gilets Jaunes”, which is a social movement that emerged in the social media, and developed both in the social media and on the street in form of demonstrations. Even if the slogans dominate on demonstrations and protests and the Internet memes dominate the social media occupying completely different communication areas they seem to be based on similar assumptions and using similar strategies of conveying the information. Through the collected examples of internet memes and slogans written on banners or yellow vests our aim is to show those similarities.
This article is focused on discursive techniques of the message creation such as conversion and fictionalisation, on types of chosen objectives and importance of graphics.
