Summary

The article explores the last volume of poetry by Janusz Szuber, who died in 2020. The collection Zdrój uliczny, intended as an occasional publication for the poet’s 73rd birthday, became an unexpectedly poetic gesture of farewell. The author analyzes the volume in the context of the topos of farewells and testamentary references. The considerations are set in the perspective of the entire poetry of Janusz Szuber and its key features. Thus his writing acquires universal implications, illuminating existential, historical, social, and even metaphysical issues.
