Summary

The aim of the paper is to present the category of quantity as a structural basis for word-formation processes, and the manifestations of quantitativity – as a verbalisation of quantitative meaning at the level of derivational semantics. The analysis focuses on the category of quantity in the logical perspective, which becomes evident where the elements of a linguistic form are combined in a linear manner and which has a significant impact upon word-formation processes (for example those based on quantitative procedures of addition and subtraction). The author discusses how various word-formation processes implement such quantitative processes as diminutive, augmentative, intensity, graduality, collectivity, relation (qualitative relation), quantitative relation, durativity, frequentativeness, a one-time process, order.
